We were pretty creative at getting socks to match, ifyouknowwhatimean...if you take the tops and put them together, then put the bottoms together, then S-T-R-E-T-C-H the socks a couple of times and fold them over real quick, they look sort of matched. Until the wearer puts them on and one is an anklet and the other is a thigh-high.
Since leaving home at 18, I'm a bit of a sock-matching fanatic and one of those weird people that LOVES doing laundry. I love the smell of freshly washed clothes and folding warm clothes right out of the dryer. Have I mentioned that I have very few neurons firing in my brain anymore?
But I digress.
Suddenly, when kids came along, I have random socks showing up in the wash. Right now, I have six kids' socks that I cannot find a match to. I have turned the house upside down, gotten dust bunnies in my hair looking under beds and couches (have I mentioned I hate dusting? So much so that if company is coming over, I just take a hair dryer to dusty places. It's not a long term fix but the dust stays aloft long enough to pretend my house is dustless). I figure the girls did not lose the socks outside or at school so HOW IN THE WORLD CAN I NOT HAVE A MATCH?
Erma Bombeck said her dryer ate socks. I must own the same make and model. All I know is the minute I get fed up and throw the lone sock away, its mate will make an astonishing reappearance. That's Murphy's Law and that kind of law always wins around these here parts (insert a Barney Fife lip smack and belt adjustment here)
